Who are we?
We are lay women in love with Jesus Christ who wish to contribute to the expansion of His Kingdom and bring His love to all people, without changing our state of life. That is, living in the midst of the world as consecrated laywomen.
We belong to a Secular Institute, which differs from religious congregations by this new way of living consecration in the heart of the world—without a habit and without the rigid rule of a convent. In fact, we may live in communities of fraternal life or on our own.
Our name, "Secular Institute Operarias Parroquiales", indicates our field of action; above all, it highlights the lay and secular character of Magdalena Aulina’s Institute.
Operarias:
this means working to earn one’s livelihood and developing one’s own profession and activities within the Church and in society. As a laywoman, the Operaria may work in any sphere of society.
Parroquiales:
understood in its broadest sense, seeing in the parish the maternal face of the Church, which lives among her children and shares their life. In this sense, Magdalena anticipated the teachings of the Second Vatican Council.
