In the open field
In Banyoles, the gift the Lord bestowed upon Magdalena Aulina was the intuition, in the light of the Spirit, of a new path in the Church: a life consecrated to Christ for the good of one’s neighbor, yet lived in the world “in the open field,” without a particular habit or a religious rule. As secular consecrated women, “our life must be in the open field, sustained by nothing other than lifting our hearts to heaven while planting our feet firmly in the soil of our own vocation” (M. Aulina, 1937).
In this context, she was able to make the Gospel’s “come and follow me” a reality and to serve the needs that arise within the Church. “The harvest is plentiful,” says the Master, “but the laborers are few” (Mt 9:37).
The Operarias of the Secular Institute of Magdalena Aulina, living either in fraternal community groups or in their own homes when appropriate, are ready to work wherever the needs of the People of God arise.
This had been Magdalena’s dream since her youth, and she was able to offer it to God as a precious harvest when He called her to her eternal reward on May 15, 1956.
Her Institute currently carries out its apostolate in the following continents and nations:
- Europe: Spain, Italy, and France.
- Americas: Puerto Rico and Paraguay.
- Africa: Equatorial Guinea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
